Rules and Regulations
1. This competition is open to students from all Singapore Primary and Secondary Schools in Singapore. You are required to REGISTER your school’s interest in participating in this event BEFORE downloading the ENTRY FORM
2. Students are to represent their respective schools and not allowed to participate as private individuals.
- Each TEAM can consist of UP TO THREE students only.
- A maximum of 2 entries may be submitted PER SCHOOL.
3. The competition is divided into 2 categories:
a) Primary School Section
b) Secondary School Section
4. The Theme of this year’s DMC2 is ”In Celebration of Singapore 2010″, which is the year Singapore hosts the Youth Olympics. Hence, participants are to compose music based on sound clips related to SPORTS
- Each sound clip must consist of a single sound (eg, a single bounce of a basketball sound)
- A maximum of 5 relevant sound clips only may be used for each composition
- Relevant sound clip materials for compositions may be created, recorded or sourced by participants. Acknowledgement MUST be given (in the ENTRY FORM) to the source for all sound clips
- All raw sound clips used in the composition must be included in your entry
- Duration of each composition must be between 1 to 2 minutes ONLY
- Entries outside of said duration will be disqualified
5. Compositions must be originally & solely composed by members in the Team. No assistance, other than guidance from teachers/trainers, is allowed.
6. – All entries submitted must be free of any prior Copyright Restrictions. The organising committee will not accept the responsibility for any copyright infringements.
- All FINAL compositions must be submitted in MP3 format, 128Kbps
7. – Submission of the Music Composition File, the 5 ‘RAW’ sound clips used in the composition and softcopy of the ENTRY FORM are to be compressed in ZIP format, ALL TOGETHER, and submitted ONLINE
- ENTRY FORMs should duly completed with all required details filled in
8. – Entries must be submitted by 2nd JUNE 2010, 12 midnight. Any entries received after this date will not be accepted. All submitted entries will not be returned.
- Upon Registration (by clicking on the Registration link above), you will be directed to download your ENTRY FORM
- The organizer will not be responsible for entries lost or damaged. It is the responsibility of each submission to ensure that we have received your entries. Please send your email enquiries on your submissions to: dmc2@musictec.edu.sg
9. Results will be posted on the website http://dmc2.musictec.edu.sg and letters will also be sent to the respective schools who have won an award.
10. – All decisions on the outcome of the judging are final and no appeals will be taken into consideration.
- The panel of judges may reject any entries, which have been, or are known to have been published before this competition.
- All entries submitted will be co-owned by the school and organizer. The organizer reserves the right to use them in any manner deemed fit, without payment of any fee and under no obligation whatsoever to the participants or schools concerned.
